How to Program a Ford Key Fob

If you’ve recently replaced your Ford key fob, you might have questions about Ford key fob programming. Fortunately, this is an easy task that Buffalo drivers can perform right at home. Ford Key Fob Programming Instructions 

  1. Close the car doors, then open the driver-side door. Press the UNLOCK button on the driver-side door. 
  2. Next, turn the ignition from OFF to RUN 8 times. This step needs to be performed quickly (within 10 seconds). The 8th turn should end on RUN. This will allow you to enter the Ford key fob programming mode. When this happens, the door locks will lock and unlock. (Note: If the doors don't cycle, it may be because the key was not turned fast enough.)
  3. Press any button on the Ford key fob within 8 seconds. The door locks will cycle again. If this is the case, the remote is programmed and ready to use. 
  4. If you have more than one key fob to program, you will again press any button on the remote within 8 seconds, causing the door locks to cycle. Do this for every key fob you want to program.
  5. Turn the ignition to OFF. Ford key fob programming is complete once the locks cycle again. 

    6. Disabling a Programmed Ford Key

    If you plan to sell your Ford vehicle or you are sharing a vehicle with a new teen driver, you may want to disable your programmed Ford key. To do this, you will need to start up the vehicle using your main admin key or admin key fob. To clear your programmed keys’ settings, follow the steps below. 

    • Start your vehicle and wait until the computer and screen turn on.
    • Press the left arrow button on your steering wheel to access the main menu.
    • Select “Settings” on the main menu after selecting “OK.”
    • When you arrive at the “Settings” screen, scroll until you find the “MyKey” option. Press “OK.”
    • Under “MyKey,” locate “Clear MyKey.”
    • After selecting “Clear MyKey,” press and hold “OK” until the “All MyKeys Cleared” message pops up on the display.
